KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Barry women's soccer team dropped six spots in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) national poll despite posting a shutout out win in their only game to open the season.
The Bucs opened with a 2-0 win over Lenoir-Rhyne, thanks to a goal and assist from Molly Sharpe and a shutout by Paula Forero and the defense. Christy Grimshaw also scored, while Carissa Sanchez had an assist.
Barry takes on Flagler (1-0-0) and #1-ranked Columbus State (2-0-0) this weekend. The Bucs have won all four meetings with the Saints, but this will be just the second meeting in Miami Shores. Barry won 2-1 in 2013 and 3-0 in 2014, both games in St. Augustine. The Cougars have won all four meetings in the series, including a 2-0 win in the NCAA Quarterfinals last season.
The games will be streamed live on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network. Danny Rabinowitz will handle the call, with men's soccer coach Steve McCrath tackling color on Friday night against the Saints and Dr. Kathy Ludwig providing analysis on Sunday against the Cougars.
