LAKELAND, Fla. -- Barry University senior Ahmed Triki won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Region singles title Monday.

Top-seeded Triki defeated Valdosta State's No. 2 seeded Leo Blay, 6-4, 6-4, in the finals. It was Triki's second appearance in the region finals, having fallen to former teammate Fabian Groetsch in 2014.

Triki became the sixth Buccaneer to win the ITA Fall region singles title. He will advance to the ITA Oracle Cup Oct. 13-15 in Surprise, Ariz., where the Buccaneers have won two team NCAA Division II Championships.
