MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry women's soccer team looks to stay on the plus side of the ledger as they host their arch-rivals, the Lynn Fighting Knights, in a Sunshine State Conference match at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday night.
The Bucs (2-1-1, 0-1-0 SSC) are fresh off a 2-1 win over the 20th-ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday. Linnea Kogsta and Carissa Sanchez scored their first goals as Buccaneers against the Eagles. Those were also the first goals allowed by ERAU this season.
Molly Sharpe is pacing the Bucs with four points on a goal and two assists. Sanchez, Kogsta and Sarah Wignall each have one of each for three points.
Paula Forero is 2-1-1 in goal with a pair of shutouts. She has a 0.95 goals against average.
The Knights (2-4-0, 0-2-0 SSC) have dropped their last two games by just two goals, losing 1-0 to Palm Beach Atlantic and 2-1 in overtime to the Saint Leo Lions.
Donish Cole leads the Knights with eight points on four goals, while Caroline Duerr has two assists to pace the team. Alexa Downie has gone all the way in goal, allowing 10 goals in six games for a 1.66 goals against average.
The Knights snapped a four-game losing skid in the series with an improbable 5-4 overtime win in Boca Raton last season, but still trail in the overall series 23-13-2, having lost four of the last five.
The game will be streamed live on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network, powered by Stretch Internet. Danny Rabinowitz will have the call, while Dr. Kathy Ludwig provides analysis.
