Men's Tennis to Host NCAA Regional

Bucs grab No. 2 seed, draw Florida Southern

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's tennis team will host the NCAA Division II South Region 2 Tournament at Buccaneer Tennis Center Sunday and Monday. 

The No. 2-seeded Buccaneers (13-6) will meet seventh-seeded Florida Southern (14-10) in the opening round. No. 3 seed Valdosta State (15-6) meets sixth-seeded North Alabama (12-4).

Ranked No. 7 in the country, Barry is making its 22nd consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament under coach George Samuel, who's coached the past 26 years at the school. The Bucs have won three national championships, including last year's 26-0 campaign.

Barry swept Florida Southern, 9-0, at Buccaneer Tennis Center on April 1. Valdosta State beat North Alabama twice this year, 5-3, in the regular season and 5-0 in the Gulf South Conference semifinals. The Bucs pulled out a 5-4 win over Valdosta State on Feb. 20 in Miami Shores.
