Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's men's tennis team fell, 5-4 to NAIA's No. 6 Keiser Tuesday on a day when its top two ranked singles players were given a day off.
Ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II, the Buccaneers (11-3) now prepare for some big tests this weekend at No. 2 Saint Leo Friday and versus No. 5 Lander Saturday at Saint Leo before meeting Eckerd on the road Sunday.
Keiser improved 16-2.
In their fourth straight doubles match together,
Ahmed Triki and
Nico Dreer authored the Bucs' lone point in doubles, beating Martin Martins and Guilherme Cunha, 8-2, at No. 2 doubles. But the Seahawks won both the Nos. 1 and 3 positions by identical 8-4 scores to take a 2-1 lead into singles.
Playing without fourth-ranked Triki and 33rd-ranked
Fabian Pronnet in singles, the Buccaneers won the top three positions, but dropped the bottom three. Dreer rolled past No. 41 Nicolas Guerschanik, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.
Renato Lombardi beat Martins by the same score at No. 2 singles, and
Daniel Ventura put together a 6-2, 6-3 win over 47th-ranked Rafael Lenz at No. 3.
The Bucs fell in a pair of three-set battles at the Nos. 4 and 6 positions, allowing Keiser to prevail.
