Baseball Swept By Nova In DH

NSU hitting too much for Bucs

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry baseball fell to Sunshine State Conference foe Nova Southeastern in both games of Saturday's doubleheader: 11-2, 17-3.

The Buccaneers suffered the swept in part to allowing nine homeruns on the day off five batters.

In the first game, Barry allowed two streaks of scoring in the 2nd-3rd innings and 8th-9th, while their own bats could only score two runs off a Frank Gonzalez RBI sacrifice hit and a Jonathan Quintana RBI single to centerfield.

Nova reliever Alexander Kline earned the win to improve to 1-1 on the year thanks to a one strikeout, 4.0 IP effort. Barry starter Luis Deville went to 4-2 with the loss in a 7.0 IP, five strikeout outing.

In the second game, it was much of the same as the Sharks had scoring streaks in the 1st-3rd and 7th-8th innings. The Bucs were also only able to score late thanks to RBI sacrifice flies from Quintana and Kyle Pangallo, as well as Alexander DeGoti's ninth homerun of the year to left field.

NSU starter Julian Loret de Mola improves to 3-2 on the year with a 6.0 IP, six strikeout effort while Barry starter Nate Greve goes to 2-1 with a 0.2 IP, one strikeout outing.

The results put Barry at 18-14 on the year and 2-6 in the SSC. NSU improves to 21-11 and 11-14 in conference play.

Up next for Barry is a series visit to Melbourne to take on SSC foe Florida Tech next weekend with the first game being on Friday.
