Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Barry University men's tennis team wrapped up the weekend with an 8-1 victory at Eckerd Sunday.
The No. 7 Buccaneers (12-5, 4-1 Sunshine State Conference) return home for the final three regular season matches this year, beginning 2 p.m. Friday against St. Thomas. It will be the second meeting between the two schools this year.
Barry swept the three doubles matches for the fifth time this season. No. 4-ranked
Ahmed Triki and
Renato Lombardi defeated Yosua Husodo and Victor Appelqvist, 8-3, at the No. 1 position.
Lucas Kogachi and
Victor Ravier won by the same score over James McManus and Eddie Lewis at No. 2 pairs.
Nico Dreer and
Franco Echenique rolled to an 8-1 win over Frazier Springfield and Jonathan Cheng at No. 3.
The Bucs won the top five singles positions for the sixth time this season.
Nico Dreer defeated Appelqvist, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.
Daniel Ventura was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Lewis at the No. 2 position.
Victor Ravier cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Husodo at No. 3. Echenique beat McManus, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 4 position.
Flavio Matteoli outlasted Springfield, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 5.
The Tritons (12-8, 0-4) picked up their point at No. 6 singles. Eckerd has doubled its win total from a year ago.
