Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's No. 7 men's tennis team shut out its fourth opponent of the season, beating No. 43 Florida Southern, 9-0, Friday. It was the third time the Buccaneers have swept a team by winning all nine matches.
In the process, the Bucs won their sixth straight match, improving to 11-2 overall, 3-0 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Moccasins fell to 11-6, 0-2.
Barry's No. 3 doubles team of
Franco Echenique and
Renato Lombardi defeated Oscar Soderlund and Miguel Alvarez-Hevia, 8-2. It was their second pairs win together this season. Echenique has played with four other partners this season. He and Lombardi put together a 9-0 record last year, spending that time paired together at the end of the season.
Fabian Pronnet and
Lucas Kogachi defeated Jose de Sario and Brian Slivonik, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles.
Nico Dreer and
Ahmed Triki were 8-3 winners over Fabian Lundberg and Arthur Viallaneix at the No. 2 position.
Dreer rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Lundberg at No. 1 singles. It was his first straight sets victory at the top position this season. Pronnet outlasted de Sario, 7-6 (7-5), 0-6, 10-8, at No. 2 singles. Lombardi beat Slivonik, 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 3 position.
Daniel Ventura picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Alvarez-Hevia at No. 4 singles.
Victor Ravier pulled out a 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 10-5 win over Viallaneix at the No. 5 position.
Flavio Matteoli beat Soderlund, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 6. Both Ravier and Matteoli won their second singles matches of the season. It was Matteoli's first entry into the lineup since Feb. 28.
The Bucs will host Keiser at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
