Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif.—The top-ranked Barry University men's tennis team got back on the winning track with a 5-2 win over the UC-San Diego Tritons on Sunday at the UCSD Tennis Courts.
The Bucs (7-2) crawled back from a 2-1 deficit after doubles as the Tritons (9-5) won at number two and three. The Bucs' Renato Lombardi and Ahmed Triki knocked off Axel Bouillin and Eric Tseng to salvage a point at number one doubles, winning 8-6.
The Tritons' Rodrigo Amaral and Justin Zhang defeated Fabian Pronnet and Daniel Ventura 8-4 at number three. The swing point came at number two as Alexandre Miaule and Horea Porutiu pulled out a tie-break win over Nico Dreer and Franco Echenique 9-8 (4).
The Bucs dominated singles, however. Ventura made short work of Richard Han at number five, 6-0, 6-2. Fifth-ranked Triki took care of Tseng 7-5, 6-2 at number one. At number four, 12th-ranked Lombardi handled Amaral 6-3, 6-4. Echenique clinched the match for the Bucs with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Adrian Cordova at number six.
The Bucs face 17th-ranked Azuza Pacific on Monday.
