Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-The seventh-ranked Barry Buccaneers swamped the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 8-1 at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bucs (10-3) took two of the three doubles points. Nico Dreer and Ahmed Triki crushed Nicolas Battistini and Fernando Arroyo 8-2 at number two and Franco Echenique and Renato Lombardi out-dueled Pietro de Silva and Thomas Salmon 8-6 at number three.
The Sailfish (8-4) captured their only point at number one doubles. Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Bermeister defeated Fabian Pronnet and Lucas Kogachi 8-5.
For the second match in a row, the Bucs swept the singles, though not without some drama. The lower flights went according to form. Pronnet, ranked #33 in the ITA National Rankings that came out today, blanked Battistini 6-0, 6-0 at number three. Daniel Ventura was nearly as efficient at number five, knocking of de Silva 6-1, 6-1.
At number six Ajdin Tahirovic defeated Stanislav Feofilov 6-2, 6-0 and Lombardi took down Salmon in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The top two flights, however, had all the drama one could want. At number two, Dreer split sets 4-6, 6-1 with Burmeister before prevailing in the super tie-breaker 10-7. Number one was even closer. Fourth-ranked Triki narrowly avoided his first loss of the year to #16 Uryson. The pair split 6-1 wins in the first two sets before Triki came out on top in a marathon 16-14 super tiebreaker.
