MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's basketball team won its fourth straight and tied a school record, and at the end of the night the No. 10/17-ranked Buccaneers found themselves in a tie for first place in the Sunshine State Conference.
Barry beat Saint Leo, 102-75, Wednesday night, and Eckerd lost to Rollins to set up a tie at the top of the league standings.Â
It was the fifth time the Bucs scored 100 points this season, matching the school record of the 1986-87 and 1990-91 teams.
Six players scored in double figures for the Bucs, who shot 47 percent from the floor.
Anders Haas scored 20 points for the second straight game, and grabbed eight rebounds.
Tray Leonard had his fourth straight double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 boards, and had a career-high six blocks and two steals.
Yunio Barrueta recorded his 10th double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Barry outrebounded Saint Leo, 57-32.
The Bucs led by 14 at the 9:35 mark in the first half, but the Lions pulled within six on a 3-pointer by Tyreece Brice 3:28 later. The Bucs went on a 15-5 run the rest of the half to take a 46-30 lead into the break.
Barry was 4 of 14 from long range in the first half. Saint Leo was 3 of 13. Both teams were at the top of the SSC in three-point shooting entering the game.
The Buccaneers outscored the Lions 40-26 12:00 into the second half to take a 30-point lead. Saint Leo went on a 13-3 run to close within 20 with 5:08 to go, but Barry put together a 10-0 run over the next 2:03 to put it away.Â
Undra Mitchem had 17 points and six rebounds on 6 of 10 shooting.
Arie Williams scored 11 points and had four assists, and
Adrian Gonzalez scored 10.
Elvar Fridriksson had 11 assists, six rebounds and four steals. Brice finished with 20 points, and Marcus Dewberry had 15 for the Lions.
Barry outscored Saint Leo, 50-30, in the paint. The Bucs outscored the Lions, 23-11, in second chance points.
