MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry's volleyball team hosts two key Sunshine State Conference matches this weekend, beginning Friday. 

The Buccaneers (13-9, 5-4 SSC) meet Eckerd (15-9, 7-4) at 7 p.m. Friday and Florida Southern (15-8, 7-4) at 4 p.m. Saturday. All three teams are jockeying for position at the top of the league standings with three weeks remaining.

The Bucs dropped the first match to both teams earlier this season. But Barry won a set at Florida Southern, and stretched the match with Eckerd to five on the road. Barry has defended its home court effectively this season, going 8-1 in the Health & Sports Center. Barry has swept the last three opponents at the HSC. The Bucs know things start to heat up at home now.

Next weekend signals the last home matches for the Buccaneers.

Barry is coming off its best hitting performance of the season after putting up a .409 attack percentage in the sweep of Lynn Tuesday. The Tritons hit .240 in the first meeting this year, while the Bucs hit .213 in that five-set match -- the last set decided by two points. Florida Southern hit .233 in the first meeting, while the Bucs had a .127 attack rate.

The Bucs have won four of their past five and five of their past seven.
