CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Barry made a run at Miami in the second half, but the Hurricanes put the game away with big run, 73-62, in Wednesday's exhibition at the Watsco Center.
Barry drew within two with 8:53 to play, but Miami went on a 17-4 run over the next 6:08 to spoil any upset. It was the fifth time the two teams have met in an exhibition game and the first since November 2010.
The Buccaneers shot 33.3 percent from the field, and the Hurricanes hit 52.1 percent of their shots in a game where Barry attempted 35 three-point field goals. Miami led the entire way.
Sawyer Glick hit a triple in transition with 8:53 to go, but while neither team hit a field goal for the next 3:09 until Glick buried another 3-pointer, Miami outscored Barry, 12-6, over the final 5:44.
Glick scored 18 points on 6 of 10 3-point shooting, and had five rebounds.
Elvar Fridriksson had 17 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Bucs, who were 20 of 60 from the floor. Miami's Davon Reed had 21 points and Ja'Quan Newton scored 18.
The Bucs trailed 38-31 at the half after shooting 10 of 32. The Hurricanes hit 14 of 25 field goals in the first half. Barry's
Adrian Gonzalez knocked down four of eight field goals and a pair of free throws for 10 of his 11 points in the first half.
Miami built a 15-point lead, but the Bucs whittled it down to seven on Gonzalez's free throws. Fridriksson's triple two minutes into the second half pulled the Bucs within five. The Hurricanes pushed their lead back to 10 on a layup by Reed with 13:01 remaining.
David Moya hit a triple to pull Barry within six with 10:05 to go. A basket by Fridriksson cut the Canes lead to four less than a minute later. But after Glick hit the 3 that made it a two-point game, the Bucs made just two field goals the rest of the way -- a pair of triples by Glick.
The Bucs bench outscored the Canes, 29-12. Miami outscored Barry, 28-10, in the paint.
Barry will host Johnson & Wales Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the regular season opener.
