Barry wins league opener by 26

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry's 10th ranked men's basketball team won a chippy affair with Lynn Wednesday in the Sunshine State Conference opener, 94-68, in front of 1,079 fans in the Health & Sports Center.

The Buccaneers made it look easy at times, but with 21 fouls apiece and four technical fouls, this game reared its ugly side. Either way, the Bucs used balanced scoring again for the second game of the season.

SUMMARY:

  • Five players scored in double figures for the second straight game for the Buccaneers, who shot 57.9 percent from the floor.
  • Sawyer Glick had 21 points, and Daniel Mortensen 19. Adrian Gonzalez and Kenan Guzonjic each scored 12. Elvar Fridriksson had 10 points and 12 assists.
  • The Bucs made 33 baskets on 29 assists. The Fighting Knights had 25 buckets on nine assists.
  • Barry broke a 12-12 tie when Glick knocked down a jumper at the 11:39 mark, and never trailed after that.
  • The Bucs built an 18-point halftime lead after shooting 61.5 percent.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry has not lost a regular season game to Lynn under coach Butch Estes. The Bucs have won eight straight regular season meetings against the Fighting Knights.
  • The Bucs were 12 of 25 from 3-point range, while the Fighting Knights shot 4 of 28.
  • Barry's bench outscored Lynn, 32-11.
  • Ten different Buccaneers scored.
