TAMPA, Fla. – The Barry University men's soccer ended their 2016 season Tuesday night, in a 1-0 loss to Tampa in the quarterfinal round of the SSS Men's Soccer Tournament.
The Buccaneers (10-6-0, 4-5-0 SSC) and Spartans (10-4-2, 4-4-1 SSC) battled to a scoreless first half. Both teams made six shot attempts with one of those shots put on goal.
Tampa broke the silence with a 69th minute goal from Jason Collister. Collister received the ball from Troy Tucker, and netted the ball from just outside the left corner of the box, to take 1-0 lead. The Spartans goal was all it took to come away with the victory.
Barry outshot the Spartans 13-11, but could not finish the ball into the net. Both keepers made three saves on the night but ultimately Tampa's keeper, Jake Richards came away with the victory, and Bucs keeper, Michael Scheraldi, took the loss on the night.
Tampa will be hosted by No. 1 Palm Beach Atlantic on November 4 at 7:00 pm, in the semi-final round of the SSC tournament.
Keep a watch on Barry's women's soccer team as they move on to play Nova Southeastern in the semi-finals Friday Nov. 4 at 7 pm, after defeating Florida Tech 1-0.
