Men's Soccer Out-Lasts Tritons

Coombes and Antoni each score a brace

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers won their final regular season home game as they out-lasted the Eckerd Tritons 4-3 in Sunshine State Conference men's soccer action at Buccaneer Field on Thursday night.

Thomas Coombes and Hanno Antoni each scored twice for the Bucs (9-5-0, 3-5-0 SSC) to power the win. They got the ball rolling in the seventh minute as Antoni's cross from the right side found Coombes unmarked in the box for his 13th goal of the season. Antoni scored one of his own in the 27th minute when he stole a clearance from a Triton defender and raced in for a one-on-one chance with keeper Alex Gott.

The Tritons (7-5-3, 3-4-2 SSC) narrowed the gap to 2-1 in the 42nd minute. The Bucs failed the clear the ball out of the box and Matheus Assumpcao's off-balance shot ricocheted off the near post and trickled over the line.

Coombes regained the two-goal advantage for the Bucs in the 50th minute. Manuel Perez and Ivan Arenas worked the ball around on the left side before finding Coombes for the goal.

Assumpcao scored for the Tritons just 0:23 seconds later with an assist from Robert Labus to cut the lead back to 3-2, but in the 53rd minute Antoni carried the ball the length of the field and blasted in his second goal of the game.

Mauricio Salvatierra gave the final gasp for Eckerd in the 62nd minute, scoring a deflected goal from 42 yards out.

Michael Scheraldi had four saves for the Bucs, while Gott had three for the Tritons as each team put seven on goal.

The Bucs close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Florida Southern in a game postponed from Oct. 1.
