MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University women's soccer team faces its last road test on Wednesday, Oct. 26 when they travel to St. Petersburg, Fla., for a makeup game against the Eckerd College Tritons at the Turley Athletic Complex.
The Sunshine State Conference game, originally scheduled for Oct. 6, was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew.
The Bucs (7-2-2, 4-2-1 SSC) are currently riding a five-game unbeaten streak and a 259 minute scoreless streak. Barry is fifth in the conference, but a win in the game could vault them up to third.
The Tritons (7-8-2, 2-4-2 SSC) have won just twice in their last nine games and, with just eight points in conference, have been eliminated from the conference tournament.
The Bucs have enjoyed as much success against the Tritons as any team in the conference, leading 22-2-1 in the overall series, including a 2-0 win last year in Miami Shores.
Sophomores Molly Sharpe and Carissa Sanchez have led the offensive push for the Bucs this season. Sharpe tops the squad with four goals and is second with four assists. Sanchez leads the team with five assists and is tied for second, with Amanda Traynor, with three goals. Both Sharpe and Sanchez have knocked in a pair of game-winners.
Keeper Paula Forero is third in the conference with a 0.86 goals against average and is second in shutout percentage with five in 11 games.
For the Tritons, freshman forward Olivia Ross-Johnson leads the offense with seven goals. Fellow rookie Ashley Kreinbring leads the team with four assists.
Freshman keeper Casey Winn is sixth in the league with a 1.06 goals against average. She is tied for the lead in shutouts with six, but only third in shutout percentage as they have come in 16 games.
The game will be streamed live on the Tritons' Stretch Internet channel, with live stats on their Sidearm portal.
