MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's volleyball team picked the perfect time to pick up a perfect weekend. The Buccaneers swept their second opponent of the weekend, beating Embry-Riddle, 25-18, 25-17, 25-13, in convincing fashion at the Health & Sports Center.
The Bucs improved to 11-8. The Eagles fell to 11-8.
Barry broke away from a 13-13 tie in the first set on a kill by
Jaeda Allen, who finished with 14 in the match.
Jenny Trinidad's 100th career ace pushed the Bucs up by five, and
Ivana Didanovic had a block,
Kristina Filimonova pounded a kill and
Genesis Castillo's kill put away the opening set in which Barry hit .257 on 13 kills and four errors.
Didanovic finished with six kills, no attack errors and two blocks.Â
The Bucs were 13 of 1 in sideout chances.Â
In the second set, Barry raced out to an 8-2 lead. Filimonova served two straight aces to extend the gap to 14-3. Embry-Riddle cut it to 18-15 on a Bucs hitting error. Allen put away a ball to make it 22-16, and
Kishara Gordon came on for a kill and then served the final two points to send Barry into the intermission leading by two sets.
Ahead 12-10 in the third set, Barry used a four-point run on the heels of three kills by Allen and one by
Eva Raat to take a 16-10 advantage. Rollins remained within six after a Bucs service error, but a putaway by Raat and another by
Brittany Reynolds proved to be too much for the Eagles to overcome as they committed four straight hitting errors down the stretch to end the match.

Raat had six kills, and Reynolds had five.
