MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Women's soccer faces another tough Sunshine State Conference road test on Wednesday, Oct. 19 when they travel across town to face 14th-ranked Nova Southeastern at 7:00 pm.
The Bucs (6-2-1, 3-2-0 SSC) have won three straight and five of the last six since a rocky start to the season. The Bucs are coming off a thrilling 2-1 overtime win against the Tampa Spartans on Saturday. Molly Sharpe, who earned SSC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts, had a goal and an assist to lead the Bucs to the win.
Sharpe leads the team with four goals and 12 points and is second with four assists. Carissa Sanchez is right behind her with three goals and 11 points and leads the team with five assists. Keeper Paula Forero has a 1.06 goals against average and three shutouts.
The Sharks (9-1-2, 4-0-1 SSC) are currently in second place in the SSC, just one point behind leader Rollins, but actually holds the inside track. NSU is on an eight-game unbeaten streak, including a 1-1 tie with Rollins on Saturday that was the Tars second draw, but only the first blemish for the Sharks.
Hannah Christophe leads the Sharks with seven goals on the season, while Nicole Poppe has a team-best five assists. Ida Norstrom has a 0.60 goals against average and five shutouts, both marks leading the conference.
Something certainly will have to give as Sharpe is the reigning SSC Offensive Player of the Week and Norstrom is the Defensive Player of the Week.
The game will be streamed live on the Sharks platform on Stretch Internet.
