Men's Soccer Sinks At Rollins

Two losses in a row

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Barry's men's soccer team fell short to the Tars 3-2 Tuesday night to take their second loss in a row. Due to weather altercations, the Bucs last played on Sept. 24th when they recorded their first loss of the season to Saint Leo.

Barry (6-2-0, 1-2-0 SSC) struck first just four minutes into the game. Thomas Coombes received a perfect through ball into the box from Manuel Perez, and poked the ball by Tars keeper, Drew Trautmann, to take the 1-0 lead.

Rollins (6-3-1, 2-2-1 SSC) mid-fielder, Matt Volk, answered back with a goal only five minutes after Barry's goal to knot the match 1-1. Volk received the ball in the air from Ben Grant, chested it down and volleyed the ball into the back of the net.

Hanno Antoni regained the lead for the Bucs with a goal in the 56th minute. Antoni was assisted by Frank Lustig after he collected the loose ball that bounced around in the box, and finished it into the net.

Rollins evened the match at 2-2 in the 68th minute with a goal from Alexis Martinez. Martinez brought the ball into the box and was able to loft a shot over Michael Scheraldi from across the goal frame.

Neither side was able to score again before the end of regulation, therefore the match was sent into overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Rollins sunk the Bucs, who were down a man after a red card was given, with a goal in the 102nd minute from a turned over ball in the final third, in which Stefan Avram followed up his first shot attempt, which was saved, and poked the ball into the back of the net to get the win.

The Tars held an 8-4 edge in shots on goal over the Bucs. Trautmann collected the win for the Tars after only saving two shots. Despite saving five shots, Scheraldi took his second loss of the season for the Bucs.

The Bucs travel to Pepin Stadium in Tampa this weekend to play Tampa on Friday at 7 p.m. and Auburn-Montgomery at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
