MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University women's basketball team quickly shook off any rust from a 12-day layoff to dispatch the Rollins Tars 82-52 in Sunshine State Conference basketball action in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday.
It was the biggest win over the Tars in school history, topping the mark set in 1991 when they won both regular season games by 24 points.
The Bucs (9-3, 3-1 SSC) led at the end of each period, but they put the clamps on the Tars (5-6, 1-3 SSC) in the fourth period. Barry held Rollins to just 3-of-16 shooting in the period and eight points.
Barry shot 54.7 percent from the floor, including 9-of-21 (42.9 percent) from three-point range. The Bucs held the Tars to just 32.8 percent shooting.
Arma Elezovic led the Bucs with 21 points and five rebounds. Ines Kerin chucked in 18 points, while Irene Sanchez had 13 and Jackie Perez added 12 and six assists.
Jasmine Stone led the Tars with 13 points, while Cassidy Bailey added 11 off the bench.
The Bucs travel to Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday, Jan. 6 to face the Tampa Spartans.
