MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Six goals scored and 110 minutes played started the 2015 season on a marathon for Barry men's soccer.
In their first game of the season, the Buccaneers would see three leads answered by North Georgia and the game ended in a draw.
The scoring began at 19:57 in the first half when Bucs forward
Patrick Drmola would put the ball in the net after having an initial effort was blocked by UNG goalkeeper Victor Ohlin.
However, the Nighthawks would respond quickly a few minutes later as Daniel Joyce would tie the game off an assist from Irving Salgado.
The first half would end tied at one apiece.
The Bucs got off to a fast start in the second half as forward
Thomas Coombes scored his first regular season goal since 2013 at 54:53. On the assists for the goal were
Hanno Antoni and
Linus Fischer.
Coombes scored after the ball bounced off the goalkeeper and the junior from Newcastle, England would then put it away. This was Coombes' first regular season goal after missing all of 2014 due to injury.
But once again, the Bucs were not able to hold on to the lead. At 68:14, Alex Grant would score North Georgia's second goal with the assist by Ivan Acimovic to tie the game at 2-2.
Barry would fight back for a third goal and would be rewarded for its effort as Thomas
Coombes would score his second goal of the night off a penalty kick in the 79
th minute.
Unfortunately, the Bucs would allow UNG to tie it up again, with Eric Carrion scoring with just a few minutes left.
Both overtime periods would be back-and-fourth affairs with both teams missing golden chances to put the game away and the match ended in a draw.
Both teams start out their seasons at (0-0-1)
