BOCA RATON, Fla. -- A Wednesday night shootout saw Barry women's soccer lose 5-4 to Lynn in overtime in Sunshine State Conference action from Bobby Campbel Stadium.
The Bucs started out strong on the night, with Lavinia Nkomo scoring her sixth goal of the season in the fifth minute to give Barry the early lead. They added to it just five minutes later when Amanda Traynor scored her fourth goal of the year, with the assist from Rayah Seckler, to put the Bucs up 2-0.
However, the Bucs' lead would met by the Knights as junior forward Caroline Duerr scored in the 17th minute with an assist from Emily Weisberg to cut the Bucs' lead in half.
Lynn would equalize on midfielder Donish Cole's goal in the 38th minute, sending the game to halftime tied at 2-2.
Shortly after halftime, in the 48th minute, Lynn grabbed the lead 3-2 on an Emily Weisberg goal, but the Bucs equalized and then took the lead back with a brace from Shanice Robe at 51:43 and 70:01, with Nkomo having the assists on both goals.
However, Barry would not be able to see the lead out till the end of regulation as Weisberg would score again in the 85th minute to tie the game up at 4-4 and regulation would end as such, sending the game to overtime.
In the extra fraom, the Bucs committed a foul on a Lynn player inside the penalty box which and Weisberg converted to give Lynn the 5-4 win.
This is Barry's first regular season SSC loss since October 6, 2012, a 3-2 defeat to Rollins,snapping a 20-game unbeaten streak.
The Bucs now stand at 5-2-0 on the season and 1-1-0 in the SSC, while Lynn improves to 1-5-1, and 1-1-0 in the conference.
