Men’s Soccer Wins Fourth Straight

Bucs earns win to extend winning streak

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- A season of renewal continues to see success for Barry men's soccer as it defeated Embry-Riddle 3-0, Saturday night.

The Buccaneers started things early as Patrick Drmola scored his fourth goal of the year at 06:35. The senior put it in from three yards off a cross from Thomas Coombes.

The Bucs would keep the momentum going with 17 shots in the first half. Their persistence would be rewarded in the 30th minute, as Thomas Coombes ended a three game goal-drought with pinpoint ball into the far right post, on the assist was Patrick Drmola.

Drmola and Coombes are tied for the team-lead in goals with four.

After halftime, the Bucs would deal with an extended period of ERAU possession and several shots-on- goal by the Eagles. But in the 58th minute, against the run of play, freshman Sergio Yepes scored his first-ever goal for Barry with a shot from 22 yards after an Eagles' giveaway in the back.

With the game comfortably in their control, the Bucs were given the chance to rest several starters and get some playing time for other players on the roster.

This win extends the Bucs' winning streak to four, the longest winning streak since 2011.

Bucs goalkeeper Bo Haug had a stellar night, making three saves and earning his second shutout of the year.

The Bucs improve to 4-0-1 and the Eagles stand at 1-2-0.

Up next for the Bucs is a visit from archrival, defending national champion, Lynn. The game is slated to begin at 7 PM on Wednesday, Sept 23.
