NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPSMIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's tennis team will open play at the NCAA Division II Championships 2 p.m. Wednesday against Azusa Pacific in Surprise, Ariz.
The No. 2 Buccaneers (22-0) are making their 18th appearance at the NCAA Championships. The Cougars (20-4) are making their first appearance in the NCAA Championships in their first year of Division II.
Last year, Barry beat APU, 5-4, in Southern California.
The Cougars are led by Jan Meyer, who owns a 20-1 record. Ben Eger is 16-7. Alan Leahy is 17-6. Meyer and Gary Yam are 15-9 in doubles. Eger and Pascal Engel are 16-8.
Barry's
Ahmed Triki is 14-0.
Fabian Groetsch is 10-5.
Dominik Haider is 14-2, and
Nico Dreer 12-3. Triki and Groetsch are 19-1 in doubles.
Kevin Sielmann and Haider are 4-1.
Renato Lombardi and
Franco Echenique are 5-0.
