WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—The 21
st-ranked Barry Buccaneers were swept 1-0 in eight innings and 4-1 in the nightcap by the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at Simpson Field on Tuesday night.
In the first game, the Sailfish (27-19) scored on a single by Theresa Butler in the eighth inning to win 1-0.
The Bucs stranded eight runners, five in scoring position, to be shutout for the first time this year.
The loss spoiled an outstanding outing by
Haley Wiseman (15-6) who carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. She finished with 7.2 innings, five hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Rachel Hill (14-2) tossed the shutout on six hits, two walks and two strikeouts of her own.
In the nightcap, Karina Langer had a bases-clearing triple in the fourth inning to lead the Sailfish over the Bucs.
Kristina Pazienza (5-1) took the loss for the Bucs, giving up four unearned runs on five hits and a walk in 3.2 innings. Corrie Boggess (7-7) earned the win for the Sailfish, holding the Bucs to a run on seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
The Bucs travel this weekend to face Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla.
