VALDOSTA, Ga. – Barry University men's and women's tennis teams were rained out Saturday in dual matches scheduled against West Florida.

No makeup date is currently planned, although Barry coach George Samuel is not ruling out meeting up with the No. 1-ranked Argonauts sometime down the line, possibly in Florida. The weather forecast for tomorrow is equally bleak, but both teams will remain in Georgia for the last of their remaining weekend matches.

The women have a scheduled match against Brenau, while the men are set to meet No. 7 Lander, which was on its way down from South Carolina, despite the poor weather conditions. Both matches are scheduled for 9 a.m. Sunday.

"It's very disappointing that the weather came through a little prematurely," Samuel said. "We had some momentum going, and the guys feel good, and we have some confidence going."

Barry women's coach Avi Kigel said the Buccaneers team and administration would need to look over the possibilities of rescheduling.

"We have to look and see if we have any open weekends," he said. "For now, no makeup date."

Samuel, however, and the men's team eagerly welcomes an opportunity to reschedule.

"Let's see if there is a possibility," he said. "I think the match should be played. It's important to put the rankings, especially the regional rankings, in their proper order. We're ready to play. I've got guys who really want to play this year."
