Women's Basketball Welcomes Rollins To Tip-off 2nd Semester

Bucs face Tars on Jan. 2 at 2:00 pm

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry women's basketball team ends a 13-day hiatus as they kick back into Sunshine State Conference play on Jan. 2 hosting the Rollins Tars.

The Bucs (8-3, 2-1 SSC) won their last three games to close out the first semester. Rollins (5-5, 1-2 SSC) enters the contest with two losses in their last three games.

Saturday's game will be carried on the Buccaneer Broadcast Network and LIVE STATS are available.

Rollins won both regular season meetings with the Bucs, but Barry had the last laugh, knocking out the Tars in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament 72-61. Rollins holds a 45-18 lead in the all-time series.

Barry is third in the league in offense, averaging 70.1 points per game, and third in defense, giving up just 60.5 points per game. Rollins' defense has been solid, ranking fifth at 63.7 points per game, but the Tars have had their troubles on the offensive end, averaging just 61.0 points per game to rank last in the league. Barry is, unsurprisingly, third in scoring margin (+9.6), while Rollins is one of three teams with a negative margin (-2.7).

Junior forward Marie Gilbert is the only Tar averaging in double-figures, scoring 10.7 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding at 5.1 per game.

The senior trio of Amra Elezovic, Jackie Perez and Ines Kerin, continure to lead the Bucs. Elezovic is tops on the squad with 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and shoots 89.7 percent from the line. She is fifth in scoring, fourth in rebounding and leads the league in free throw percentage.

Guards Jackie Perez and Ines Kerin chip in 11.6 and 11.5 points per game respectively. They rank third and first in three-point shooting at 44.6 and 46.7 percent respectively. Perez is first (3.0) and Kerin is fourth (2.5) in made three pointers.

Irene Sanchez is second on the team in rebounding (5.3) and assists (3.0) while averaging 9.1 points per game. Kim Flournoy chips in 4.7 points and 5.6 rebounds to go along with her team-high 2.3 steals per game.

This game signals the first of three home games out of four total for the Bucs over the next two weeks. Barry hosts Embry-Riddle at 2:00 pm Jan. 9 and Nova Southeastern at 7:30 pm on Jan. 13. They visit Tampa on Jan. 5.
