MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers got the women's basketball season off on the right foot with a 76-67 exhibition win over the Miami-Dade Sharks.
The Bucs, who trailed by four 36-32 with 8:22 left in the third period, went on a 10-4 ruinover the next 3:22 and never trailed the rest of the way. Barry extended its lead to 52-41 on a three-pointer by Ines Kerin at 1:48 in the third.
The Buc took their biggest lead, 66-54, with 4:17 left in the fourth period on another trey by Kerin. The Sharks trimmed the lead to just six, 69-63, on a jumper by Nachalie Dejesus with 1:12 left, but Barry quickly pushed the lead back to double figures and settled for a nine-point win.
Amra Elezovic led the Bucs with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Kim Flournoy added 15 points and eight boards off the bench. Jackie Perez tallied 13 points four assists and Kerin added 11 points. Irene Sanchez had 11 rebounds.
Dejesus led the Sharks with 19 points, while Jaiveonna Norris chipped in 17 and eight rebounds.
The Bucs play at Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 5:00 pm.
