Buccaneers Men's Basketball Suffer Shooting Woes

BOCA RATON, Fla. – BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Barry University shot just 28.3 percent in a 69-53 loss at Lynn University Wednesday night.

The Buccaneers (11-12, 5-6 Sunshine State Conference) managed just five field goals in the second half in a deflating loss to its league rival. Lynn (13-10, 6-5) knocked down 50 percent of its field goals in the second half, and owned the Bucs on the boards.

Lynn outrebounded Barry, 52-26, which included a 19-6 edge on the offensive glass.

Barry's Evan White scored 12 points, had five steals and grabbed five boards. Chad Renfro finished with 10 points. Jermaine Edwards had eight points and two blocks.

Jeremy Lampkin had 15 points and 13 rebounds. Slobodan Miljanic had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights.

Barry raced out to a seven-point lead 4:37 into the game behind heads-up play by Edwards, who knocked down two perimeter jumpers, including a triple. But Lynn hit seven triples in the first half to take a six-point lead into intermission.

Miljanic was 3-for-6 from behind the arc in the first half, and DeMario Fountain buried two triples. The two combined for 22 of Lynn's 36 first half points. Fountain finished with 13 points.

Lynn outrebounded Barry, 27-15, in the first half, posting an 11-3 edge on the offensive glass.

Barry was one of 10 from three-point range in the first half. The Buccaneers sank all nine of their free throws in the opening half.

The Bucs hit 19 of 23 free throws for 82.6 percent.

Barry hosts Florida Southern Saturday at 4 p.m.
