Miami Shores, Fla.— The Barry University women's tennis team moved to 10-0 on the season on Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 blanking of DI Toledo.
The Bucs started off the day in good shape with three points in doubles. The fourth-ranked team of
Barbi Pocza and
Angie Werschel beat Polina Guimaraes and Ashley Frey 9-8 (7-5) at the top flight. At No. 2,
Laura Boguet and
Alex Gwizdowski downed Kelsey Anonsen and Alexandra Cristello 8-6. In the final doubles flight,
Julie Stas and
Olivia Matuszak Defeated Amanda Border and Silvia Carvajal 8-4.
In singles action, #14 Pocza breezed by Guimaraes 6-0, 6-2 at the top flight.
Angie Werschel, the 23
rd ranked player in the country, defeated Frey 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Playing in the third flight, # 38
Caroline Wendling downed Kelsey Anonsen 6-3, 6-1.
In the lower flights, Gwizdowski beat Cristello in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 at #4.
Laura Boguet defeated Coffman 6-3, 6-2 in the fifth flight.
Mona Mansour kept the Bucs perfect with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Border at No. 6 singles.
The Bucs return to action a week from today when they host Massachusetts on Tuesday, March 15 at 3:00 pm.
