Women's Tennis Downs Eckerd To Remain Perfect

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The fourth-ranked Barry University women's tennis team blanked the Eckerd College Tritons at home on Saturday afternoon.
 
At the top doubles flight, #14 Barbi Pocza and Angie Werschel downed Emmy Laing and Amanda Teets 8-0. At the second flight, Olivia Matuszak and Julie Stas beat Stephanie Jenks and Telara Buelow 8-2. Akemi Maehama and Lizbeth Vargas kept the Bucs perfect in doubles with an 8-0 win over Hanna Segal and Sonnet Ludwig.
 
In singles action, #38 Caroline Wendling beat Laing 7-5, 6-1 in the top flight. Matuszak defeated Jenks 6-0, 6-1 at #2 singles. Alex Gwizdowski beat Teets 6-1, 6-1 at number three.
 
In the lower singles flights, the Bucs three players blanked their Triton opponents 6-0, 6-0. Mona Mansour beat Buelow at #3, Maehama beat Segal at #4, and Vargas defeated Ludwig at number six.
 
The Bucs return to action on Saturday, April 2 against Rollins at 10:00 am.
