WINTER PARK, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers closed out the SSC/SIAC Crossover with a doubleheader sweep of Albany State (0-14), winning game one 9-1 in six innings and 14-5 in five innings.
In the first game,
Paula Mackin (4-1) picked up the win in the circle. She went five innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks and struck out three.
Jessica Bevlin pitched a scoreless sixth, striking out one.
Jessica Tabor singled in
Alyssa Goldsmith with the mercy run in the sixth after Goldsmith led off with a triple. Goldsmith led the Bucs
with three hits and scored twice. Tabor went two-for-three with two runs and two RBI. Mackin added two hits and two RBI and
Sarah Broeseker went two-for-three with two doubles.
In the finale, the Bucs (8-4) broke out the bats to score a season-high 14 runs. Broeseker went three-for-three, scoring three runs and driving in two. Tabor went two-for-three with two doubles and drove in four.
Stephany Soto also went three-for-four and drove in three.
Jessica Bevlin (3-0) went the distance for the win. She struck out seven and walked one.
The Bucs return home on Monday, Feb. 28 for a doubleheader against the Mercyhurst Lakers starting at 4:00 pm.
