MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University softball team (42-17, 15-19 SSC) fell to the Rollins College Tars (39-15, 14-10 SSC) 1-0 to close out the Sunshine State Conference series on Sunday at Buccaneer Field.
Rollins took at 1-0 lead in the fifth inning and held on for the win. Sherri Rabenold doubled in the winning run with a one-out RBI double to score Meghan Shaw to account for the run.
Barry scattered three hits over seven innings, while the Tars scored once on five hits.
Amber Jack (26-10) went five innings allowed five hits, one run and struck out three in the loss for Barry.
Casey Pyron hurled two innings of no-hit shutout relief. Nicole Anderson (25-11) went 4.2 innings of relief and struck out six to earn the win for Rollins, while Ingrid Schumacher earned the start.
The series capped off a successful 42-17 season for the Buccaneers. Now Barry hopes for a bid to play in the NCAA South Regional Tournament that will be hosted at Valdosta State May 10-13. Announcements will be made on Monday, May 7.
