MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University softball team (33-10, 7-3 SSC) picked up their seventh straight Sunshine State Conference (SSC) victory after defeating the Eckerd Tritons 12-5 on Friday night at Buccaneer Field. Freshman
Amanda Goelz set the single season school record with her 19th double of the year, surpassing teammate
Shyla Rider's record of 18 from the previous season.
The Tritons (15-29, 1-5 SSC) scored three runs in the first inning on two Buccaneer defensive miscues, then added one in the second to take a early 4-2 lead.
However, the Bucs charged back to take the lead with a four-run third inning. After a lead-off single and a stolen base,
Ashley Loose was plated by Goelz's double to centerfield.
Holli Davis followed with a single and she and Goelz were brought home on
Sara Hipson's two RBI double. Rider finished off the inning with a single to give the Bucs a 6-4 lead.
Barry then added three more runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth to seal the game.
Davis led the Bucs going four-of-five with one RBI, while Loose and Goelz each recorded three hits. Amy McGathy and Janielle Sedoris led the Tritons with two hits each.
Barry's
