The Barry University Athletic Department celebrated its 22nd annual Athletic Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at the Signature Grand in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Awards were presented to athletes from every sport.

Major Awards:

• Sister Jeanne O'Laughlin Community Service Award: Athletic Department Graduate Assistants: Amanda Brickell & Maryanne Giovanelli
• Male Athlete of the Year: Thomas Hipp, Tennis
• Female Athlete of the Year: Emelie Karlsson, Soccer
•  Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Dirk Benninghaus, Tennis
• Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Greta Trotman, Tennis
