Baseball Drops Mid-Week Tilt With Sharks

DAVIE, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers (28-16-1) dropped a mid-week non-conference tilt with the Nova Southeastern Sharks 3-0 at the NSU Baseball Complex on Tuesday night.

The Sharks (24-18) got all the offense they would need in the third inning after loading the bases with no outs off Buccaneer starter Bobby Riley (5-1). Chris Reynolds singled home two runs and Brian Ikalina added a sacrifice fly.

Riley took his first loss of the season, despite pitching a complete game. He went eight innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out one.

Antony Bello (9-2) got the win for Nova, tossing five shutout innings on two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Joe Franco worked the last two innings, giving up three hits and a walk, to earn his eighth save.

The five-six-seven-eight hitters for Barry combined to go seven for 15, with Brett Rossi leading the way with three hits and Jesse Naber and Danny Aguiar adding two each. Reynolds and James Sposa had two hits each for Nova.

The Bucs host Eckerd this weekend at Feinbloom Field. Friday's single game begins at 6:00 pm and the doubleheader on Saturday is scheduled for noon.
