Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry men's tennis team regrouped from a rough trip to Savannah, Ga., to defeat the Dowling College Lions 6-3 at the Buccaneer Tennis Center today.
The Bucs (17-3) took two of three doubles, with the Bucs' top team of Gerold Wiring and
Thomas Hipp doubling up the Lions' Peter Veselovsky and Willem Van Rensburg 8-4. Alex Praderas and Andres Varela shut out Marko Milovanovic and Paul Azu 8-0 at number three. The Lions saved a point at number two as Tamas Ungvari and Gustavo Sanchez clipped Filip Norrman and Victor Rodriguez 8-6.
The Bucs quickly established a tone in the singles. Varela continued his perfect work, defeating Azu 6-0, 6-0 at number five, while Hipp make almost as short work of Veselovsky, 6-1, 6-1, at number one.
Wiring closed out Rensburg 6-3, 6-1 at number two to seal the win, while Rodriguez knocked off Sanchez 6-1, 6-3 at number three.
The Lions (1-3) took the four and six singles in super tie-breakers after the match had been decided.
Barry closes out the regular season on Monday, Apr. 12 at home against Northwood (Fla.) then travels to Orlando, Fla. for the Sunshine State Conference tournament Apr. 16-18.
