Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers and Lynn Knights finally got to play a tennis match after finishing as Sunshine State Conference co-champs in 2003 and the Buccaneers made the most of the opportunity by blanking the Knights 9-0 at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Tuesday.

The Bucs (15-1, 4-1 SSC) swept the doubles. The Bucs top tandem of Gerold Wiring and Thomas Hipp, dominated the Knights' (8-5, 4-2 SSC) Regnier Azevedo and Jan Macko 8-2 at number one, while Filip Norrman and Sebastian Losavio blanked Justin Cohen and Adger Ellison 8-0 at number three. At the second flight, Dirk Benninghaus and Victor Rodriguez survived a stiff challenge from Dennis Riegraf and Oscar Argaez, getting a late break to win 8-6.

In singles, Norrman quickly dispatched Cohen 6-0, 6-0 at number five, while Andres Varela, subbing for Benninghaus at number six, defeated Dominik Selig 6-2, 6-3 to give the Bucs the needed five points.

After the match was decided, Losavio and Wiring made it 7-0 Barry with wins at number two and three respectively.

Rodriguez and Argaez split sets at number four, but Rodriguez bounced back to take the super tie-break third set 10-3. At number one, Hipp and Azevedo went to a tiebreaker in the second set, with Hipp taking it 7-5 to complete the sweep.

The Bucs will face NAIA power Auburn-Montgomery on Thursday, Mar. 25 at 2:00 pm.
