Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The Barry University women's basketball team (14-13, 9-5 SSC) fell to the Rollins College Tars (24-3, 14-0 SSC) 51-43 earlier today at the Alfond Sports Center. Lindsey Woodcock led the Tars with 15 points. Nikki Collins had 12 points to lead the Buccaneers.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half as the game was tied 24-24 at intermission. After Barry took a 27-24 lead on a three-point basket by Sanja Zivanovic, the Tars answered with a 9-0 run to take a lead they would never relinquish. They led 42-33 with 9:04 remaining in the game before Nikki Collins answered with consecutive three-point baskets to trim the margin to three at 42-39 with 7:49 left in the game.
Woodcock converted a three-point play to increase the lead to six points and the Tars pulled away for the final 51-43 victory. After allowing the Bucs to convert 45% of their field goal attempts in the first half, the nationally ranked Rollins defense put the clamps on the Bucs in the second half as they limited them to only 25.9% from the field. Barry committed 23 turnovers, compared to 15 for the Tars.
Mary Lou Johnston had 11 points for Rollins while Nicole Warder had eight points and six steals. Yashica Nesbit had nine points for the Bucs and Yojana Rodriguez had 13 rebounds.
The game was the regular season finale for both teams as they will next participate in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, being hosted by Rollins. The women's quarterfinals will be played on Friday, Mar. 5. The seeding and gametime for Barry will be determined following the final SSC game on Monday, Mar. 1.
