Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University women's basketball team defeated the Fighting Tritons of Eckerd College 68-48 in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference action.
The Buccaneers (14-11, 9-3 SSC) led for most of the first half though the Tritons fought to close the gap to within six points at 34-29 at the half. For the Buccaneers, Nikki Collins led the team with nine points, shooting 3-3 from behind the three point arc.
The Tritons (11-14, 6-7 SSC) kept on clawing their way back into the game, using a four-point play by Janielle McCullough at 9:48 to make it a two point game at 43-41. However, after consecutive baskets by each team, the Buccaneers outscored the Tritons 18-0 to lead 63-43 at the 2:59 mark.
Yashica Nesbit and Nikki Collins came off the bench to lead the Bucs with 14 points each, while Yojana Rodriguez added 12 points and six rebounds. Meredith Cook led the Tritons with 13 points, while Jen Ritter added eight.
Barry hosts Florida Tech on Wednesday, February 25 at 5:30 pm in the Health & Sports Center.
