Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers bumped off the NAIA ninth-ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles 5-1 at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Tuesday.
The match was halted due to rain, but the Bucs had already earned enough points for the win.
Barry (2-0) swept the doubles, with Filip Norrman and Gerold Wiring taking the top flight from Costin Corneanu and Nicolas Bousquet 8-3.
In singles, Wiring and Victor Rodriguez handled their opponents at number three and four respectively. Wiring defeated Evan Sprecht 6-1, 6-2, while Rodriguez beat Dustin Sipka 6-2, 7-6.
Danny Arkins earned the Eagles (2-3) only point, beating Barry's Dirk Benninghaus 6-0, 5-7, 14-12.
Barry faces Florida Gulf Coast on Friday at 3:00 pm before opening Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday against Eckerd at 1:00 pm.
