Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Rollins College women's basketball team (16-3, 7-0 SSC) continued their best conference start ever with a 69-51 victory at Barry University (9-10, 4-3 SSC). Jennifer Catti, Nicole Warder and Lindsey Woodcock each had 12 points to lead the Tars. Nikki Collins had a career-high 16 points for the Buccaneers.
The Tars used a 21-7 run over the final 10 minutes of the first half to overcome an early eight point deficit (22-14) and take a 35-29 halftime lead. The Buccaneers got within three points at 44-41 with 12:37 remaining in the game, but were able to score only ten points the remainder of the way as Rollins finished the game on a 25-10 run.
After making seven of their first 13 shots during the first 10 minutes of the game, Barry converted only 13 of their next 39 to finish at 38.5% from the field for the game. Rollins hit 41.1% from the field and 80% from the foul line during the game. Barry out-rebounded the Tars 40-30, but committed 27 turnovers in the contest.
Karla Mast was the only other Buccaneer in double figures with 11 points. Mary Lou Johnston had nine points, six assists and three steals for the Tars while Gabrielle Blankenfeld, and Joslyn Giles each had eight points in the contest.
Rollins will look to continue their perfect conference start when they travel to St. Petersburg on Saturday, Jan. 31, to face Eckerd College. Barry will host Tampa on Saturday, Jan. 31. Game time is 4 pm at the Health & Sports Center.
