Box Score LA'IE, HAWAI'I -- The fifth-ranked Barry University volleyball team fell in three straight games to the second-ranked UC San Diego Tritons 30-25, 30-21, 30-28 earlier this afternoon. The Bucs also suffered an earlier loss to seventh-ranked BYU-Hawai'i 3-2 (20-30, 32-30, 30-22, 25-30, 15-17).
After going five games in their earlier match with BYU-Hawai'i, the Bucs were unable to overcome a tenacious Triton team falling 3-0.
Kelly Dantas posted a season-high 16 kills and a .429 attack percentage to lead the Bucs, while
Fernanda Ferreira added 10 in the Bucs efforts.
Bonnie Wilson and Lindsay Crandell led the Tritons to victory with 17 and 11 kills respectively.
The Buccaneers fall to 4-2 on the season, while the second-ranked Tritons remain undefeated at 6-0. The Bucs wrap up their whirlwind tour of Hawai'i going 2-2 on the week with wins over Chaminade (3-0), Hawai'i Pacific (3-2) and falling to BYU-Hawai'i (3-2) and UC San Diego (3-0).
The Bucs will return to the friendly confines of the Health & Sports Center on Saturday, Sept. 13 hosting North Florida at 6 pm for their 2003 home opener.
