Box Score HONOLULU, HAWAI'I -- Hitting a blistering .398 as a team, the Barry University volleyball team tarnished the Chaminade Silverswords 3-0 earlier this afternoon winning all three games 30-26, 30-23, 30-22. Head coach Dave Nichols also hit a milestone winning his 175th match of his career.
Offensively the Bucs hit .321 in game one, but only got better as the match continued. In the final two games, the Bucs blistered the opposition hitting .417 and .451 respectively to down the Swords.
Simone Ferrarezi led the Buccaneer attack with a season-high 11 kills, while
Fernanda Ferreira and
Samanta Tucillo each registered nine. Freshman
Nicole Castera led the Bucs with a .538 hitting percentage and was third on the team with eight kills.
Melissa Lehman led the Buccaneer setters with 19 assists.
Valasi Sepulona and Kahala Kabalis led the Swords with 13 kills apiece.
The Buccaneers improved to 3-0 on the season while the Swords fell to 3-3. The Bucs will return to action later tonight facing 14th-ranked Hawai'i Pacific at 7 pm Hawai'i time. Results will be available on Friday for Thursday late results.
