Box Score MIAMI SHORES, FLA. -- The sixth-ranked Barry University volleyball team continued their strong play slaying the tenth-ranked North Dakota State Bison 3-0 earlier tonight in an AVCA top ten match-up at the Health & Sports Center.
The Buccaneers won the first game 30-23, but the Bisons made it more difficult in the next two. Down 9-2 in the second game, the Bucs came back to win 30-25. Carrying their momentum into the final game, the Bucs held on to win 30-28 for the match victory.
In just her third match of the 2003 season,
Fernanda Brino posted her third consecutive double-digit kill performance to lead the Bucs. She tallied 17 kills with a .438 attack percentage and 13 digs to lead all hitters.
Simone Ferrarezi followed with 14 kills and 10 digs, while
Daniela Lanza led the team with 47 assists.
Jenny Gronner-Roisum led the Bisons with 11 kills and a .550 attack percentage, while setter Katie Holmgren led the team with 31 assists.
The Buccaneers improved to 7-2 overall, while the Bisons fall to 10-5 on the year. The Bucs will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23 hosting Nova Southeastern in the Health & Sports Center at 7 pm.
