Box Score ST. LEO, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers and West Florida Argonauts tied 1-1 in double overtime in a crucial women's soccer South Region match Saturday at Saint Leo's University Field.
The Buccaneers (2-2-2) got on top early.
Tammie Thornton fed
Emelie Karlsson at the top of the 18-yard box and Karlsson slammed a shot off the crossbar that bounced straight down and into the goal.
The Bucs held the lead until the 87:02 mark. The Argonauts (4-0-1) were awarded a free kick and Anna Thorsteinsdottir spotted Mauricia Nicholson unmarked on the wing. After a quick move around the defender, Nicholson slotted a shot past Barry's
Johanna Fischer to knot the game at 1-1.
Neither team could cross the threshold in the extra frames.
Both keepers played spectacular games. Fischer made six saves for the Bucs, while Klara Vrbova had nine for the Argonauts.
The Bucs are back in action at home on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 6:00 pm against North Florida.
