Box Score LAKELAND – The Barry University women's soccer team opened up Sunshine State Conference play Thursday afternoon with a 3-1 victory of the Moccasins of Florida Southern at Barnett Field.
The Bucs (2-2-1, 1-0-0 SSC) jumped out in front right away on
Mairead McLaughlin's second goal of the year at the 5:23 mark and
Emelie Karlsson followed it up shortly after at 26:04 with her third goal of the season. The Mocs (3-2-0, 0-1-0 SSC) responded at 26:04 with a goal by Tara Cameron to bring the Mocs to within one heading into the half.
In the second half, it was all Bucs as Tammy Thornton added an insurance goal at the 71:45 mark to seal the victory. For the game, the Bucs out shot the Mocs 28-6.
Joanna Fischer picked up her second win of the season in goal for the Bucs stopping two shots.
The win was the 33rd straight for the Bucs in SSC play dating back to 1998.
The Bucs return to action on Saturday afternoon as they face off against West Florida at noon at Saint Leo University.
