Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry men's tennis team won the NCAA Division II Southeast Region I Tournament 5-3 over Florida Southern at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Saturday.

The Bucs (21-3) advance to the round of 16 of the D-II National Tournament at Sanlando Park in
Altamonte Springs, Fla., May 8-11 where they will face Valdosta State of the Gulf South Conference.

Barry stepped out quickly in the match, with Filip Norrman and Dirk Benninghaus defeating Josh Berman and Jon Leavitt 8-3 at number three doubles. Thomas Hipp and Gerold Wiring gave the Bucs a 2-0 lead by defeating the Mocs' Marc Bender and Alvaro Nunez 8-6. At the top flight, Barry led 6-4, but FSC's Ryan Dunne and Marco Grangerio stormed back to win the last four games and take the set 8-6.

In singles, Barry's Sebastian Losavio battled off flu-like symptoms to defeat Nunez 6-3, 6-2 at number four and Hipp knocked off Dunne for the third time this season 6-4, 6-4 to put the Buccaneers up 4-1.

But Dusty Dixon defeated Bennighaus 6-4, 6-2 at number six and Becker beat Samir M'Bioka 6-2, 6-4 at number one to pull the Mocs (14-9) back to 4-3. The Bucs, however, proved too strong as Wiring set down Grangerio 6-4, 6-3 to close out the match.
