Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PENSACOLA, Fla.--The Barry tennis teams split their second day matches in the UWF White Sands Invitational on Saturday, with the women knocking off #6 Georgia College 5-4 and the men falling by an identical score to #9 Ouachita Baptist.

The women started off strong, winning all three doubles, including an 8-4 win at number one by Gizella Turbok and Conny Grunes over the Bobcats' #2-ranked pair of Luiza Biktyakova and Mia Paavilainen.

But singles proved to be a trickier matter as the Bobcats stormed back to win four of the six flights. Barry's Grunes and Carole Steinhauser won at number two and six respectively, giving the Bucs the necessary five points for the win.

In the men's match, it was very nearly the opposite. The Tigers won all three doubles, but Barry came within an eyelash of winning enough singles to take the match.

Thomas Hipp and Gerold Wiring won for the Bucs at number two and three respectively and Samir M'Bioka tied the match at 3-3 with a stunning upset of OBU's Guillame Coubard who came in ranked #2 in the ITA 6-0, 1-6, 6-1.

But Barry fell at the five and six slots, before Sebastian Losavio salvaged a three-set win at number four to make the final 5-4.

The Buccaneer women improve to 19-1, while Georgia College falls to 13-3. The men drop to 15-2, while OBU moves to 12-3. The tournament concludes for the Buccaneers tomorrow morning with the women taking on Ouachita Baptist and the men facing #1-ranked Drury at 9:00 am.
